Styling Mrs Oliver looks at inspiration and "most wearable" trends from the A/W16 catwalk shows from NY and Milan. What are the must-have key items coming through and how do we wear them?
SPARKLE - disco balls, sequins, metallic lame fabrics and metal embellishments are a key inspiration for A/W16 collections. Some designers have quite literal interpretations of the theme, for example, a Dolce and Gabbana dress entirely covered in mirrored embellishment. Other designers have a more subtle approach, showcasing metallic accessories, "liquid" metallic fabrics or sparkling beading.
So here is the big question, do you have an eclectic style, or do you prefer paired down and minimal? Everyone has their unique style and working out a formula that works for you will help you stay focused when putting outfits together and shopping.

How will I wear this trend? I love the decadence of Studio 54, but I will probably be celebrating the disco sensation in pretty subtle ways. Metallic leather sandals, clutch bags and skinny sequinned scarves are a staple in my wardrobe, so these will be coming out again and probably worn with jeans and a T - shirt. I will be looking out for a silver pleated midi skirt as I like the idea of mixing this with 70's knee high boots. It doesn't all have to be high glamour, wearing a metallic print or embellished T-shirt with grey jeans would look pretty cool too. If I was bold enough to wear the sequinned leggings, I would dress them down with an oversized white poplin shirt and pair of trainers.
