How bold can you go?
Styling Mrs Oliver selects the best COLOUR street style inspiration and offers a few suggestions on how to wear it. Life would be bland without colour and even though I naturally gravitate towards black, white and marl grey, I still love to POP a basic palette with a contrasting colour. Lifting an outfit with a bright accent can be as subtle as adding a bright pair of shoes or as dramatic as wearing a neon yellow dress. How bold do you go?
I am not a fan of colour rules and the philosophy of "having your colours done" seems so outdated, possibly because colour feels more intuitive than that. I don't agree with always having matching colour shoes and handbag; I love black and navy together, and cream and white tonal combinations look high end to me. So often this is considered a faux pas when my belief is this looks contemporary.
Hair colouring and skin tone are crucial to selecting the right colours to suit you as some can be too harsh from one person to the next. Blondes with a warm coloured complexion can wear baby pinks and camel tones for example, but very fair skin tones with dark hair can appear drained by these colours.
Here are some street style images of fresh ways to wear the colour that suits you and next week check out a shopping list of coloured highlights to brighten up your basics.

Tonal spice colours using tan, ginger and paprika reds create a "warm" colour family. These colour's look strong on blondes and brown to auburn hair tones.
Solid blocks of colour flatters and elongates the body, I love this head to toe neon blue. If you are feeling bold, add the vivid turquoise coat.
